This is the Kibera Slum where approximately one million people live within 1 square mile.
In 2008 we made our first trip to Kenya where we helped to start an Awana Club at the School that Beatrice and Thomas started that year. Can you imagine they had 100 children on their first day of school? Imagine this… in 8 years they have grown to two locations in the slum and well over 600 children.
This is Maddy on the left, a few years ago, as we were preparing the children to load up onto buses where we were headed on a field trip to a park. The kids were SO EXCITED! It is rare for them to leave the borders of the slum, for many the field trips are their only chance.
Our family is celebrating 9 amazing years of working with Thomas & Beatrice! This photo was taken on our trip last year while we were staying at the Children’s Home the Omolo’s have started for orphans in the slum. They have established a loving and caring home outside of the busy city where these children can find a quiet space with love, peace and security in a family setting.
